Mock Draft

b3619brnphtx65s2th4p9eggfWashington Wizards: Cody ZellerIndiana_logo

With a  3-17 record the Wizards are the worst team in the NBA.

Picture 4

Some will argue that Nerlens Noel has greater upside. GM Ernie Grunfield cannot afford to take a risk developing a young big man, especially when established scorer and rebounder Cody Zeller is still available.Rookie SG Bradley Beal has become the Wizard’s second highest scorer, but has been an inconsistent shooter despite his impressive college career as a prolific scorer at Florida. Sidelined for the past three months with a left knee injury, PG John Wall is slowly ramping up his level of basketball activity and will certainly provide a boost on offense.

2.  pistons    Toronto Raptors

With a 5-19 record the Raptors are reeling. Forward- center Andrea Bargnani told an Italian newspaper that the club is “pretty much the worst team in the NBA.” Raptors coach Dwayne Casey said he would be “surprised” if the comments had not been “lost in translation.” If in fact his words were misinterpreted I will say it for him: the Raptors are pretty much the worst team in the NBA.

The Raptors are 20th in Points Per Game, 23rd in Rebounds Per Game, 21st in Assists Per Game, and 28th in Points Allowed. None of these rankings offer much hope.

SG DeMar DeRozan has become a skilled scorer averaging 18 points per game with a 44.8% FG percentage. C Andrea Bargani  stretches the floor with his three point shooting and contributes a respectable 16 points per game, but has been unimpressive rebounding and altering shots. PG Kyle Lowry has developed into a one of the teams most efficient players with a 20.6 PER, 15.8 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.56 steals.

3. cavsCleveland Cavaliers

With a 5-19 record the Cavaliers are off to a poor start. Despite impressive wins over the Clippers, 76ers, Hawks, and Lakers they have failed to beat weaker opponents such as the Pistons and the Magic. 25th in Points Per Game, 13th in Rebounding Per Game, 27th in Assists Per Game, and 22nd in Points Allowed the Cavs have room for improvement all around.

PG Kyrie Irving, however, continues to fill the massive hole left by the Decision and Cavs fan are now Witnesses to one of the most promising elite talents in the NBA. With 22.5 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists Irving excels in more ways than one. Some have questioned his defensive effort, which he readily admits must improve from last year, but few question his 45.5% FG, 40% 3P, 82 FT.

Rookie SG Dion Waiters has been excellent on the offensive end with 15 points per game. C Anderson Varejao is one of the NBA’s best rebounders with 14.9 boards to go along with an average 14 points and 3.3 assists. SFs C.J. Miles and Alonzo Gee and PF Tristan Thompson have been decent.
